How to Operate your SIMON III Security System
When leaving your home, assuming the home is empty, press the ARM DOORS & WINDOWS button once & ARM MOTION SENSORS button once to arm both your doors/windows and motion sensor(s); leave within 30 seconds (or allotted delay time). Upon returning, enter your ACCESS CODE on the main SIMON unit and the system will disarm. Be sure you enter and exit through the delay door(s) the installer programmed into your system.
When going to bed and no one is expected in or out of the house for the night, press the ARM DOORS & WINDOWS button twice to disable the entry delay. Before leaving in the morning, enter your ACCESS CODE on the main SIMON unit and the system will disarm.
In case of an emergency, press and hold the EMERGENCY button for three seconds to alert the UL listed monitoring station to call for help. To disarm the system afterwards, enter your ACCESS CODE.
If the SYSTEM STATUS button is lit, press the button twice to listen to the system report (often an alarm in memory or trouble report). After checking the system status and correcting the problem (if one occurred), press the DISARM button to erase the information from the SIMON memory. Note: The SYSTEM STATUS button also will light each time a sensor is opened such as your door and window sensors. This light will go out when you close all sensors.
To test your motion detector, contact the monitoring station and put your account on test. Close all doors and windows, press the ARM MOTION SENSORS button and leave the sight of the motion sensor for five minutes (leaving the room is best). Re-enter the area with the motion sensor and the alarm will sound. Enter your ACCESS CODE to disarm the system and contact the monitoring station to ensure they received signals and remember to take the system off test. Clear the alarm memory by following the instructions in the previous paragraph.
